Cyclic Behavior of Slab–Wall Connections with Concrete-Filled Steel Tubes Embedded in Wall Piers

Concrete-filled steel tubes (CFSTs) embedded in structural walls can improve the lateral-force resistance of slab–wall structures, but also impede passage and anchorage bars slabs around tubes. Therefore, objective this research is to propose design detailing solve problem, analyze bearing capacity seismic performance joint using design. Two types no-through-tube were put forward for that intersect with CFST-strengthened walls: (1) an anchoring ring (AR) detailing; (2) a direct (DA) detailing. Four concrete specimens these two tested cyclically. It was found connection AR had better ductility energy dissipation compared those DA Nevertheless, more force-transferring capacities, meaning they at transferring force received by shear walls. Overall, both be adopted practice significantly connections, choice which use would depend on specific requirements project.
